Ghazals :songs of unsaid love

Some emotions of mankind like pain and love are best conveyed through silence and a ghazal is very close to silence . Ghazal is subtle and sublime. Keats once said that the sweetest songs are those which sing about your saddest thoughts and a Ghazal sings of what you have lost , it sings of unsaid and unattainable love . It delves deep into your past , unearthing your sorrows , venting your feelings making you vulnerable. There are not many people who can endure this or live through this and hence Ghazals always have a selected audience. To be an admirer of Ghazals one needs an emotional maturity to see beyond the lyrics to read the silences of the song. This can be attained only with age .A ghazal grows on you as you grow up.

Mazha

I live in tellichery a coastal town in kerala , it rains for 6 long months here and I enjoy every drop it. When I was a child I used to loathe it , my school was 26 kms away from my home and I used to go in the train with my mom. My mom will cover me in this stifling garish raincoat and drag me to school. Every time the rain stopped I had to unbutton it then fold it and put it in a plastic bag and push it into my rectangular school bag it was painful so I used to pray for a sunny day. Years passed I shed my raincat I switched to the brolly . Only then I realized that it was not the rain that I hated it was the raincoat , that despicable shroud.

Under the umbrella I started loving the rain it was growing on me, the only things that kept us away were my books , saraswathy would have dissolved if I closed the brolly . Later my mom got me a waterproof scoobee day bag , yes that was it that was my admit card for the tryst with the rain. I stopped usin umbrellas and I kept losing them and my mom was furious whenever I lost an umbrella ,I still have the marks of her fury on my torso. But nothing kept me away from the rain .When it hits the earth for the first time after months the soil reciprocates with an aroma sayin you are always welcome , the sea roars, the leaves whisper, the rooftops murmur , everything in nature adores rain. There are ants which morph into insects and fly as soon as a rain is in the offing ,rain makes many creatures to bloom out of the soil and at the same time it sends all their predators to their nests , it washes away the old and the rotten and makes way for the newones, rain is divine. There are no mornings no evenings and no nights when it rains in my place there is rain rain and only rain. I lie on my bed enjoyin the symphony of it . Some rebel drops make their way through my roof and hit my face , it is a wonderful feeling, it is beyond words.

It is said that on a full moon day you sexual self starts rebelling like a wild caged animal but for me this happens on a rainy . Rain is not just about the drizzle and the chill it is also about the burnin unquenchable thirst which it brings with all its water .But unlike the dogs outside I practice patience .

Now I live lapis7 Nit trichy. It never rains here , I miss rain and I miss a lot of things related to it . One day unusually it started rainin when I was sleepin and I suddenly woke up, it was all dark and all I could hear was the rain and I started screaming “ Maaa Maa” I thought I was at home . I then rang up home and talked for a while about nothing .

“RAIN TAKES ME HOME”

Kites go haywire without strings

"A guy(J) who lives on the streets wants to make it big in his life goes for a rich girl falls in love with her brothers fiancee(linda aka natasha) , brother a shot tempered beat-you-to-death-if-you-mess-with-him kind of a guy, a father who doesn wanna see his daughter cry and as usual love had no boundaries(or no strings attached as per the movie)the guy and his brother-in-laws fiancee run away and then the chase begins" How more cliched can a movie get and from this if they can make it work you have to give it to Hritik and Barbara who carry the done-to-death plot on their very very very sexy bodies. They look like angels who fell from the sky and to see them make out we can even listen to himesh singin this is nothin.

Linda and J who have no language in common and to communicate should depend on their eyes and silences. This actually to work on screen requires great acting skills or a pulsating chemistry (apart from the sexual one)which both of them fall short of, neither Hrithik's overactin nor barbara's lack of actin does the trick. Very stupid subplots and very very imaginary characters like the guy in the geep which j and linda hijack after robbin the bank who happens to know spanish and hindi and who traslates for them then happily, gives away his geep and his credit card to them ; maybe like us he was awed by Hrithik and Barbara and has not yet realized that he just got fucked.

The worst part of the movie is its music Rajesh Roshan is terribly outdated. He begins the song well but has no idea where to go with it, thanks to salim sulaimans background scores that make you sit for the movie. Also Hrithiks dance sequences which literally keeps your mouth open.

In the end as the movie title suggests "Kites" , how long shall you watch them , one day you see them soaring high in the sky you are amazed and amused but for how long , they are paper and plastic hardly flesh and with no strings attached they seem to go haywire.

P.S : "Oh! i forgot to mention Kangana or did I? Ah! it doesn matter anyways"

Is that all, Roger?

I saw the match,it was painful to see federer struggling at one end of the court. I still hoped hoplessly that somehow he'll claw his way back into the match . No,he just bade goodbye , his eyes weren't sad he was okay with the defeat ,he knows he has achieved what he wanted to, he has become the all time great "But is that all Roger ,is that why you played very careless unfederer tennis we have seen lately. If this is it , it woud be better if you say goodye forever , i dont want to see the man i admire adore and worship being beaten by every tom dick and harry in the place."

He gave away US but came back with the Australian then he lost atp tour matches to some unknown names who now boast of beating Federer . Then this, in quarters of the clay he bades us goodbye without a fight, leaving people like me shattered.

But we know you'll be back ,you never give up ,we never give up . You give us courage, you give us hope, you give us life ,please dont take all that away, atleast not like this . We shall wait, wait for the dawn when you step on the grass courts of London.

I BELIEVE IN GOD
I BELIEVE IN ROGER FEDERER

The wait is over............

“The drought of eight long years ends today
The search for the real stars ends today
as the Gods reunite for My Name is Khan
as we all wake up to the dawn divine”

Tomorrow My name is khan hits theaters ending the wait of millions of Sharukh-Kajol devotees all around the globe . Filmfare quoted “ Its a homecomin for which an entire nation is waitin”. They ran a valentines day special dedicated to Sharukh and kajol. I treasure it.

I grew up watchin their romance onscreen . From “jaathi hoon main “ to “sajda” their journey had been breathtaking. I can never forget the rain dance in “kuch kuch hota hain”, romancin the nile in “khabhie khushi kabhie gham” and takin her away in a train in “dilwale dulhaniya le jaayenge”. Individually they are not very glamorous people but when they come together they become the most beautiful couple in the world .

I know today they are aged and they cannot have sonu and shreya singin for them , they cannot afford to dance around singin “ladki badi anjaani hain “. They know this and this time it is rahat and richa singin
roam roam tera naam pukare
ek hue din rein hamare
hum se hum hi chin gaye hain
jabse nain kataar
teri kaali akhiyoan se jind meri jaage
dadkhan se tez daudoon
sapnoan se aage
ab jaan lut jaye
yeh jahaan chut jaaye
sang pyaar rahein
main rahoon na rahoon

i am not sayin that the music is great but it is good and the lyrics are amazin

“mujpe barsi jo teri nighahein
meri saansoan ne badli adaaein
aise nainoan ki baatoan mein koi kyun na aaye”

Niranjan Iyengar has taken their romance to a higher level.

Thanks to Karan for everythin he has done for them.

Its time for bollywood to fall in love all over again.

Caputre life

I used to hate photos coz i never looked good in them. It was embarrassing for me to be in front of a camera.
But lately i discovered the beauty of photograhy,it lies on the other side, behind the camera. I started taking photos when i came to trichy , then slowly it became a hobby. Now i have a very ordered collection of photos and another thing i do is searchin images on the web , i go to google type anythin that has the word photos in it and save everythin i find interesting.

I love taking snaps of people the most coz they intrigue me, their eyes, their expressions, their stares even a blank face has a story to say. I like framin them in black and white coz only black and white captures every colour of life. When you are interested in photograhy no journey is borin. i dont think that photography is about goin to Venice and takin pictures. Photography is here, in your room , in your bed , it is in simple things you just have to have an eye.It is the only art that can capture art.

You capture life when you take a snap.

P.S. The irony is that i don't have a camera!! I use a sony ericsson 2.0 phone camera which suckz..

Wake up sid

I wanted to see the movie when i heard the cast. But i missed it in theatres ,the fact is it never released in this suckin to the core city Thiruchirapally.I bought the dvd and saw it.It was simply brilliant.

Ranbir Kapoor, i used to hate this guy after "jab se tere naina" strippin and then the tryin-to-be-too-cool-dude in "bachna-e-haseeno".And then all of a sudden he gives us a very sweet performance in wake up sid.

The movie is about a boy who has no aim in life and all he knows is to spend his papa's money. He meets an ambitious girl Aisha Banerjee ( konkona sen sharma)and a relation builds.Yes the story offers nothing new but the way the plot is carried is very refreshin and you feel it is a brand new story all over again.

The strength of the movie is in its cast.It was a very bold move to cast konkona opposite to ranbir and it has proved fruitful. They look sweet all throughout the movie and i love the tender bed scene with the mellifluous background score.

The music of the movie fits well,Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy has done a decent job but the "iktara" and the background scores are the ones which give you the goosebumps. Amit Trivedi is a future aspect. The cinematography by Anil Mehta is breathtakin and aids the movie at crucial junctures. The debut director Ayan Mukherjee doesn disappoint.

Konkona has done a great job, i feel she is the shabana of the new world. The supportin cast is great which includes Supriya Patak and Anupam Kher. But it is Ranbir as Sidderth Mehra who makes you smile and puts a charm on you,you just cannot take eyes of him. With this coming of age story Ranbir's actin has also come of age.

As my friend Dhiren said you just want the movie to go on and on and on.....

Just like that........

I wanted to ask her out long back when i started messagin her but never had the courage so i just kept messagin and messagin. So somewhwere in between a 'too fair' guy turns up, she goes with him everywhere . I kind of become insecure and ask her whether she has fallen in love with him she replies he is her best buddy and she never will fall into love she'll walk into one. Then i watch wake up sid and all of a sudden i decide to take the initiative and ask her out. I take my phone and ask her . She replies 'no'........
I ask her why? Then she says
"JUST LIKE THAT"
My three years are in that just like that.

P.S. as dhiren said its time for me to use fairness creams
"gaal pe bhi
aur baal pe bhi"
